1970年の初公開から50周年。日本で大ヒットした恋愛映画の金字塔！

映画史に残る不朽の名作『ひまわり』(’70)が公開50周年を記念して、HDレストア版でスクリーンに蘇る。
イタリアの名優ソフィア・ローレンとマルチェロ・マストロヤンニが共演した互いに思い合いながらも戦争によって引き裂かれた夫婦の悲しき愛の物語。
監督は『靴みがき』『自転車泥棒』で知られる名匠ヴィットリオ・デ・シーカ。
音楽を担当するのは、『ティファニーで朝食を』『ピンクパンサー』などで知られる軽快で洒落たサウンドで日本でもファンが多いヘンリー・マンシーニ。オープニングとしてエンディングで地平線まで広がるひまわり畑の映像のバックに流れるテーマ曲は、映画音楽の名曲として愛され続けている。
