「007の番外編」とも言えるこの作品はオールスターキャストで描かれ、アクションとスリルに満ちたシリーズとは全く違う、ドタバタコメディを基調に、完全なパロディ映画として公開されたカルト映画。
一度聞くと忘れられないハーブ・アルパートとティファナ・ブラスのメインテーマ、そして何より、バート・バカラック作曲、ダスティスプリングフィールドが歌う名曲「恋の面影」など、とにかくキャラクターが立ったその独特な映画の雰囲気からいまだに多くのファンを持つ映画である。
今までも何度となくCDとしてリリースされてきたが、今回は全編にマスタリングを施し、そしてバカラックによる曲をすべて網羅した77分収録の完全盤としてリリース。またマイク・レッドウェイによるプロモシングルバージョンで、バカラックがアレンジした曲「Have No Fear, Bond Is Here」をCD初収録。豪華ブックレットも含め、50周年記念盤に相応しい内容にて発売が決定。
